The Aspen Summer of Birds has set a high bar for birding events with a slate of programming ranging from birding walks to educational talks and local pop-ups presented by the National Audubon Society in collaboration with a range of arts and environmental organizations. Live musical performances inspired by The Birdsong Project have been arranged and performed by local students, and best of all, the Aspen Summer of Birds demonstrates how art can help drive conservation action for birds.
A variety of activities during June and July were centered in Aspen, Colorado and neighboring areas in association with a collection of local organizations and events at local festivals. The Aspen Summer of Birds was presented by the National Audubon Society and The Birdsong Project in collaboration with a range of local arts and environmental organizations including the Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, the Aspen Music Festival & School, Audubon Rockies, the Roaring Fork Audubon chapter, and more. The types of activities and events created can certainly be used as inspiration for other communities and destinations in the future.
