Learn about the Winter Raptor Survey, conducted by the Hawk Migration Association of North America (HMANA) during their next Free “Lunch & Learn” presentation, which will be delivered next Wednesday, December 11th at 12pm (eastern). As the chairman of the Winter Raptor Survey committee and a HMANA board member, Vic Berardi will be speaking about the Winter Raptor Survey program and how birders can participate in this community science project. Berardi will provide information about some of the raptors you might see during a survey, and will share an update about the winter data that has been collected.

This should be an especially interesting presentation considering that Vic Berardi is the founder of the Illinois Beach State Park Hawk Watch on the west coast of Lake Michigan in the Chicago area, where volunteers have conducted 25 seasons of full-time hawk migration monitoring since 2000. He also served as an editor for the publication Hawk Migration Studies for several years and is an accomplished raptor photographer.

This program is Free and open to everyone, although registration is required at Meeting Registration - Zoom For anyone unable to join via Zoom, HMANA will also live stream the program on their Facebook page. To learn more about the December 11 presentation, HMANA’s work and outreach, and previous “Lunch & Learn” programs, you can refer to Hawk Migration Association’s Winter Raptor Survey Program – HMANA
