The 2024 Audubon Bird Photography Contest

Among the winners of the 2022 Audubon Photography Awards were a sharp portrait of a displaying Greater Prairie Chicken by Amiel Hopkins (above); and a stunning action photo of a male White-tailed Kite passing a rodent to its larger female fledgling, taken by Jack Zhi (below).

Audubon invites bird photographers and videographers to enter the 2024 Audubon Photography Awards contest, open now through February 28. Judges will award significant cash prizes to the winning photographs in 7 categories, including the new “Birds in Landscapes” prize, which will go to the top photo that illustrates the relationship between birds and the places they need – their habitats. Other categories include Amateur, Professional, Youth, Plants for Birds, Fisher, Female Birds, and Video categories, and a Grand Prize is awarded overall.

Winners and honorable mention photographs will be featured in the Summer 2024 issue of Audubon magazine. Select photos and videos will also be featured in digital galleries promoted on Audubon's website and social channels throughout the year. The prizes are significant, including a Grand Prize of $5,000 for the photo judged to be the best of all entries. Cash prizes of $2,500 will be awarded for the winners 4 contest categories: the Amateur, Professional, Video, and Plants for Birds categories. Winners in 3 other categories will receive $1,000, in the Birds in Landscapes, Female Bird Prize, and the Fisher category. No less impressive is the prize for the winner of the Youth category, which is 6 days at Audubon’s Hog Island Audubon Camp for Teens.
