According to Show Coordinator, Brenda Wright, an all-time record crowd is coming to central Missouri for the 11th annual Wild Bird Expo™ and Heart of America Gift Show™. Over 500 retailers from 45 states and Canada are filling every hotel in Mexico, Kingdom City and Fulton Tuesday, October 3rd through Thursday, October 5th. The show is hosted by Gold Crest Distributing, owned by the Toellner family in Mexico, MO, along with Songbird Station in Columbia.
Vice President, Grant Toellner, was asked why attendance is increasing when all other shows for independent retailers across America are seeing decreasing attendance. His comment, "We believe it is a combination of several factors. #1 - With the help of our 100+ participating vendors, we are able to pay for all rooms, meals and transportation from the St Louis Airport and around all venues. This makes the show extremely affordable. #2 - Retailers love the learning seminars put on by fellow retailers and industry experts. #3 - Retailers always comment that it's obvious they are appreciated at our shows by the warm welcome received from Mexico's city officials, county officials and local volunteers, organized by Dana Keller of the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce. These individuals help with parking and many other needs. Additionally, the athletic booster club gets involved by serving BBQ steak sandwiches for one of the lunches provided during the show."
Toellner added, "Our new Cheers 2 You beverage accessories and gifts division and our new Gift Essentials division have been key to driving folks to the Heart of America side of our now two-part show."
