WSO Video Offers Owl-Watching Tips

In response to the misbehavior surrounding owl observation over the last several winters, the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology has developed a 10-minute educational video that discusses the man-made hazards that northern owls face during irruption years as well as considerations that should be taken when viewing these amazing animals.

Most people don't want to harm these beautiful birds, which are protected by the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Even if not intentional, it is possible to seriously stress and harass birds if we are not careful when we approach to observe and photograph them. Watch this video to learn how to be a respectful observer.

Working on the video were Steve Betchkal for production, Andy Cassini for narration and Jim Knickelbine for the script.
