CONCORD, N.H. – Hunters, anglers and wildlife watchers now have information at their fingertips, thanks to a new mobile-friendly website recently launched by the N.H. Fish and Game Department at wildnh.com. The newly redesigned website builds on many months of user testing and suggestions for improvements received by the Department from constituents. The result is a more user-friendly experience for visitors.
"Our constituents are often out on the trail, in the woods, or on the water, so from the start, it was important to transform the website into a useful, easy-to-use resource accessible from various devices," said design team leader and Fish and Game Public Information Officer, Becky Johnson. "The new site incorporates feedback from our visitors and will continue to improve as we receive input and deploy new web technologies."
Fish and Game aims to extend the reach of all its programs with the website, which brings educational and informative content to a broad audience of hunters, anglers, habitat enthusiasts, and wildlife naturalists. The Department's online resources are as diverse as the visitors who use them – from the much beloved bi-weekly Fishing Report to deer hunting dates and progress reports on endangered wildlife.
The new website features expanded content which includes streaming media and colorful photography. Links to the latest news about the Department's activities can be found throughout the site. The mobile-friendly layout and design incorporates the use of bright and engaging colors, textures, and makes it easier to find need-to-know information fast. Data tables have an updated, professional look and can easily be sorted by category, and there is a new feature that allows visitors to search for boat ramps by town name.
In addition to 180 wildlife facts sheets about New Hampshire's animal species, the website boasts over 900 pages that offer direct access to useful maps and other information supporting the Department's mission: connecting people to the outdoors. If a visitor is unsure of how to find an item, a newly developed site-wide search engine is there to help.
On the site, you can subscribe to NH Wildlife Journal, get your copy of the 2016 NH Wildlife Calendar, or buy a moose hunt shirt in the special shopping section. Get your questions answered about Fish and Game licenses, Law Enforcement, Landowner Relations, and much more.
To complement the website, the Department has embraced the use of social media, including Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube and Twitter, which reaches thousands of people interested in what's new with Fish and Game.
The website redesign was made possible in part by a grant from the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire, Fish and Game's nonprofit partner.
