Lesser Prairie-Chicken (LPC) Program Manager

The Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (WAFWA) is seeking a Lesser Prairie Chicken (LPC) Program Manager. This position will be based in one of the five states within the range of the lesser prairie chicken - Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas or Colorado. The LPC Program Manager will direct field operations; supervise staff; communicate and coordinate among affected state, federal and local entities for the Lesser Prairie-Chicken Range-wide Conservation Plan (RWP); staff the various committees and subcommittees as described in the RWP; coordinate closely with WAFWA financial staff and Executive Secretary; and be responsible for annual monitoring and reporting related to the RWP.

Minimum education is graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Biology or wildlife-related science. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in the same fields.

The LPC Manager must have at least 5 years of experience working in a statewide and/or national administrative position, wildlife conservation efforts or endangered species issues, and an additional 4-7 years of experience (typically wildlife management) at the level of Senior Program Manager or Senior Wildlife Biologist; be adept at coordinating, facilitating and summarizing meetings; and have strong written and verbal communications skills, with an ability to work with a variety of individuals and entities at the regional, national and international level. Demonstrated participation and/or leadership in professional organizations like WAFWA or AFWA, would also be an asset.

The salary range for this position is $81,000 - $99,000 annually, plus fringe benefits.
