OWAA to Meet in McAllen in May 2014

Just one year from today, we hope all of you will join us at sites across the city of McAllen, including La Quinta Mazatlan World Birding Sanctuary for our welcome dinner, and Lozano Shooting Range for our annual Shooting Day program.

Transitioning from an early fall date back to late spring will allow members coming to McAllen before conference to catch the tail end of spring migration for neotropical species and provide great weather for a wide range of outdoor pursuits!

To kick off the planning process, OWAA Executive Director Tom Sadler and Conference Coordinator Jessica Pollett will travel to McAllen this coming June. In conjunction with the McAllen Convention & Visitors' Bureau, they will meet with all host facilities and begin discussing possible pre- and post-conference excursions to help members generate story materials while attending conference.

A local chair for our 2014 conference will be selected at the first Board meeting of the OWAA Lake Placid conference this September. In the meantime, suggestions for speakers, sessions or topics are welcome, please email them to conference@owaa.org.

For those excited to explore the outdoor pursuits available in Knoxville, Tenn., a location previously announced as being selected to host an OWAA conference, OWAA will still be working with Knoxville CVB to bring our members and supporters to this unique city as well. Our Knoxville conference will be held June 26-28, 2015.

Updated conference information can always be found on the OWAA website at www.owaa.org/conference.
