Project Snowstorm, an exciting study of the movements and behavior of Snowy Owls, provides impressive information about individual Snowy Owls fitted with transmitters while wintering in the northern Midwest and Northeast states. You can follow the northward flights of these Snowys on satellite photo maps and learn about the activities of individual owls. Watch for their possible returns southward as more Snowy Owls begin moving south during coming weeks. Now that’s exciting!
Project Snowstorm is a collaboration between dozens of scientists and organizations formed in the wake of the historic snowy owl irruption of 2013-14. Since that exciting start, the project has continued to expand their study of the ecology of wintering Snowy Owls with the help and efforts of many contributors.
