In a ceremony taking place May 14 at the New York Historical Society Museum and Library in New York City, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology will present its prestigious Arthur A. Allen Award for 2013 to Dr. Robert Ridgely, an expert on Neotropical birds, and co-author of The Birds of Panama, The Birds of Ecuador, and The Birds of South America.

The Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge has been recognized as one of the recipients of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Rachel Carson Awards for Scientific Excellence for 2012, an honor annually bestowed for providing key scientific support for new and innovative conservation initiatives and efforts on behalf of federal, state, and private conservation organizations.

Courtney Turrin, a graduate student working within The Center for Conservation Biology has been named as recipient of The Carl J. Strikwerda Award for Excellence named for previous Dean of Arts and Sciences of The College of William and Mary for her work studying nesting bald eagles within the lower Chesapeake Bay.
